What happened

Two children, aged 10 and 11, lost their lives in a landmine explosion in the border village of Mohammad Shaqati (Dosalegh), in the Fath ol-Mobin District of Shush County, Khuzestan Province. The landmine, a remnant of the Iran-Iraq war, detonated on Friday, July 4, 2025. The victims, both Arab children from the region, have not yet been officially identified. According to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the explosion occurred after the children came across an unidentified object while playing near a site where recent excavation work had taken place.
ILNA News Agency reported that one of the children died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries at Nezam Mafi Hospital in Shush.
