What happened

Nigerian troops have recovered 56 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by suspected ISWAP terrorists on the vital Marte–Dikwa bridge in Borno State. Military sources said that the explosives were uncovered during a clearance operation by the 24 Brigade in Dikwa. The IEDs were strategically positioned to cause mass casualties and disrupt military and civilian movements.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops identified and intercepted the threat before detonation. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was deployed to neutralize the devices. Images from the operation reveal multiple IEDs spread across critical parts of the bridge, a key route linking northern Borno towns. The swift response prevented what could have been a deadly attack on security forces and humanitarian convoys.
Clearance operations are ongoing, and the area remains under heightened surveillance.
