What happened

A ransomware attack on Radix, a Zurich-based non-profit organization promoting public health, has led to the leak of confidential data from multiple Swiss federal agencies. The attack occurred on June 16, when the Sarcoma ransomware group infiltrated Radix’s systems, stole and encrypted data, and later published it on the dark web. The Swiss National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is now analyzing the leaked information to determine which government agencies were affected. Radix, which operates eight national competence centers, runs projects for the Confederation, as well as cantonal and municipal authorities. Radix confirmed the breach and said that personalized notifications were sent to affected parties. The organization maintains that, so far, there is no evidence that sensitive data from partner institutions has been exposed. Sarcoma, active since October 2024, is known for high-profile attacks, including one on Taiwanese tech manufacturer Unimicron.
