What happened

On 3 July 2025, an explosion occurred in Torre del Greco, Naples, Italy, which was likely caused by a gas cylinder. The blast partially collapsed a building and damaged two other apartments with falling debris. Emergency services, including firefighters, local police, and medical personnel, responded to the incident. One man was rescued from the rubble and taken to the hospital. He is not in a critical condition. No other people were reported missing. One family voluntarily left their apartment. Other residents are awaiting the outcome of structural inspections to determine whether further evacuations are necessary. Local authorities, including Mayor Luigi Mennella, visited the site. Mennella emphasised the importance of cooperation with the Prefecture and expressed relief that there had been no fatalities.
