HII launches Virginia-class submarine Arkansas (SSN 800)

HII announced that the Virginia-class submarine Arkansas (SSN 800) was recently launched at the company’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division on the James River.
The submarine was transferred from the floating dry dock to the submarine dock at the shipyard for final outfitting, testing, and crew certification. Bryan Caccavale, vice president of Navy programs for NNS, expressed pride to see the Arkansas in the water and said they are committed to increase the cadence and productivity of submarine construction for the US Navy, a critical aspect for national security.
Arkansas will be the 13th Virginia-class submarine delivered by NNS. These submarines’ advanced capabilities increase their firepower, maneuverability, and stealth.
