What happened

A major explosion has devastated an apartment building in Sassari, Italy, resulting in injuries to a male individual who was discovered beneath the rubble of his residence. Prior to this incident, the firefighters responsible for the area had been alerted by a call reporting a strong smell of gas emanating from the apartment building. Concurrently, a conflagration occurred, precipitated by an explosion that resulted in the demolition of the edifice. The personnel present on site, including medical professionals, faced the imminent risk of being entrapped by the partial collapse of the edifice. The explosion caused significant damage to the roof of the building and the attic, where the man who was inside at the time was. The presence of canine units and USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) specialists is indicative of ongoing efforts to ensure that no individuals remain buried under the rubble.
