After the laboratory confirmation of 6 out of 8 suspected cases of cholera (Vibrio cholerae O1 strain), the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Namibia officially declared an outbreak in the Opuwo district, Kunene region (Northwestern Namibia) on June 19. Of the six confirmed cases – all belonging to the same household – one has died, while the surviving five are being treated in isolation.
