A mass poisoning incident occurred among schoolchildren in an elementary school in Berlin-Moabit. It was due to tear gas being dispersed in the building’s corridors during the first hours of the school day. Several firefighters, along with ambulances and police, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the emergency services found the school management had already evacuated the affected building as a precaution. It has been reported that a significant number of minors, among the 400 individuals present in the building, have expressed concerns regarding discomfort experienced in their eyes and respiratory systems. According to official sources, 37 children were injured in the incident. The majority of the injuries were minor, with one child requiring hospitalisation by ambulance for further medical attention. The remaining individuals received treatment from on-site paramedics. A police spokeswoman has confirmed that, following adequate ventilation of the building, there are no longer any risks to students and teachers. The school management of the elementary school has taken the precautionary measure of cancelling all scheduled lessons. Police investigations are currently ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and identify any potential perpetrators.
