In Razin village, Shawal tehsil, Upper South Waziristan, a landmine explosion has resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl. According to local sources, the deceased, a member of the Mehsud Jalalkhel tribe, was playing on a hillside in proximity to her residence when she inadvertently detonated the device. Police authorities have verified this occurrence. A comparable event took place in late March, involving the death of a 10-year-old boy caused by a landmine in the same vicinity. Gul Badin Mehsud, a local leader of the National Democratic Movement from Shawal, has expressed concern over the number of landmine detonations that have taken place in recent years, resulting in significant loss of life, primarily among children.
