Togo and European partners are increasing efforts to ensure the safe transportation of hazardous goods in Lomé. On May 27, Togolese authorities hosted a two-day symposium under the SAFETIC project, a European Union-funded project. The event, promoted by the French Ministry for the Environment, focused on preventing, detecting, and managing chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) risks. The goal is to make industrial facilities safer and secure supply chains to support sustainable economic growth. Colonel Aoufoh Koffi Dimizou, Secretary General of the Togo Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthen its prevention, detection, and response capabilities. On his part, Stéphane Devaux, team leader at the EU delegation in Lomé, praised Togo’s dedication and confirmed the European intention of supporting partner countries in reducing CBRN risks.
