What happened

A collaborative training exercise was conducted on Tuesday, May 20th, involving personnel from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) and the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) at the military port of Agadir, Morocco. The operation constitutes a component of the joint Moroccan-American exercise, designated ‘African Lion 2025’. The operation’s primary focus was the conduct of reconnaissance operations and the neutralisation of improvised WMDs, radiological dispersal devices and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) decontamination. The training scenario comprised a military operation to secure the port of Agadir and prepare for the arrival of a vessel suspected of carrying materials and components of a weapon of mass destruction (WMD). The exercise was also attended by several high-ranking officers from both countries. The 21st iteration of the ‘African Lion’ joint exercise is intended to enhance military cooperation between Morocco and the US, thereby contributing to the promotion of security, peace, and stability in the region.
