What happened

The Indian Ministry of Defence has called for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to oversee Pakistan’s nuclear armaments. The statement was issued by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during an address to military personnel in Srinagar, following the establishment of a truce between the two nuclear-armed nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan swiftly condemned the remarks made by its counterpart on social media. In the wake of the recent escalation in hostilities between two neighbouring states, which has led to concerns about the possibility of a nuclear conflict, the Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has expressed his willingness to initiate peace negotiations with India. It has been asserted by officials that both Pakistan and India are prepared to proceed with implementing confidence-building measures to reduce the alert level in the disputed territories.
