What happened

The Local Health Authority (ASL) of Modena, Italy, has verified a case of Chikungunya fever in Carpi. The infection was contracted overseas and transmitted via the tiger mosquito. In order to minimise the population of the potential disease vector, preventative disinfestation measures will be implemented within a defined area encompassing the patient’s residence and frequented locations. The municipal administration and the Modena ASL will issue updates as necessary.
