In Sri Lanka, the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) warned about a sharp increase in dengue cases nationwide, with over 19,000 reported this year. There have also been seven deaths. The outbreak in Ratnapura District has recently been controlled, but several parts of the area continue to register high case numbers. In response, the NDCU has announced a special dengue eradication program targeting high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions. The campaign will be held in the second half of May. It will focus on mosquito breeding site elimination, public awareness, and community engagement.
