What happened

The Italian Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) has approved a resolution that allocates a total of over one and a half million euros for the restoration of nuclear easement in favour of the nuclear sites in Southern Pontine, namely the province of Latina and the neighbouring municipalities of Cisterna and Nettuno. The municipality of Latina will receive almost 900,000 euros for having hosted the Borgo Sabotino nuclear power plant. Approximately three hundred thousand euros will instead be allocated to the municipalities of Minturno and SS. Cosma and Castelforte for the Garigliano power plant. The contribution is drawn from a special fund set up to acknowledge the environmental impact of areas where nuclear power plants or facilities related to the nuclear fuel cycle have been present. It is intended for environmental and territorial redevelopment interventions.
