Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has verified that the forthcoming indirect discussions between Iran and the United States regarding the nuclear matter will take place in Rome. The Sultanate of Oman will serve as a mediator for these negotiations. According to the Iranian news agency Mehr, Mr. Araghchi has expressed his objective to achieve a mutual consensus concerning the 2015 international accord about Iran’s nuclear program. This represents the fourth instance of indirect engagement, following the initial meeting in Oman, the second in Rome on April 19 at the Omani embassy in Italy, and the third in Muscat. The most recent of these discussions is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025. Mr. Araghchi has also announced that on Friday, May 2, an Iranian delegation will convene with representatives from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, the three guarantor nations of the 2015 international accord on Iran’s nuclear program, also in Rome.
