What happened

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) have stated that Pakistani security forces have eliminated 17 terrorists in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), which is near the Pakistan-Afghan border. The border protection operation was conducted in the Hassan Khel area following a foiled militant infiltration attempt in which the forces neutralized 54 terrorists. No fatalities were reported among the security forces. A substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the militants who were killed in the operation, as the ISPR further added. In a press statement, President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated his commitment to the ongoing security operations until the complete eradication of terrorism. In the Global Terrorism Index 2025, Pakistan has been ranked second, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks having increased by 45 percent in the past year to 1,081.
