What happened

The Telangana section of the National Safety Council (NSC) held on Monday (April 21) the one-day workshop “Fire Prevention and Mitigation in Factories” at the KLN Prasad Auditorium, FTCCI, Red Hills. Over 300 delegates from oil, explosives, pharmaceutical, and chemical plants across the state attended the event, which focused on various measures to reduce fire-related incidents, including equipment maintenance and worker training. The sessions were led by experts in electrical and static electricity fires, prevention strategies, and emergency response protocols.
B. Rajagopala Rao, the chairman of NSC-Telangana, said that the fire fatality rate in the state was lower than in other parts of India. However, he urged factory managers to improve fire safety measures and illustrated several ways to enhance them, including hot-work permits, routine maintenance, good housekeeping, and adequate ventilation. On his part, joint chief inspector Y. Mohan Babu asked managers to proactively identify and eliminate fire hazards in their factories.
