What happened

The Copenhagen police have launched an investigation into a suspicious package that was delivered to the Israeli embassy in the Hellerup district, in the north of the Danish capital. The alert was triggered following a report from embassy staff who requested the intervention of the authorities. Police units, armed military personnel, and hazardous materials specialists wearing protective suits and gas masks were immediately deployed to the scene. Adjacent streets were temporarily closed to traffic as a precautionary measure. According to Anders Frederiksen, the duty chief at the Copenhagen Police, there are no direct threats to public safety and no risk to residents. The examination of the package continued inside the diplomatic premises under police supervision. No further details have yet been released regarding the package’s contents or origin.
