What happened

Security forces in Jharkhand have successfully thwarted a major attack planned by the banned CPI (Maoist) group in West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts. Acting on intelligence received on July 4, a joint team comprising local police, CRPF, and SSB launched a coordinated search operation in forested areas under Tonto Police Station and New Hatgamda OP.
During the operation, the team discovered around 30 buried Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), each weighing 2 to 2.5 kilograms. These were planted by Maoist cadres, reportedly under the direction of senior commanders, to target police and paramilitary patrols.
Thanks to the alertness of the security personnel, aided by sniffer dogs and bomb squads, all explosives were safely defused on site, preventing any casualties.
Authorities confirmed that combing operations and investigations are ongoing to track more explosives and identify those responsible.
Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to sustained anti-Naxal operations to ensure public safety and build trust within local communities.
