From June 23 to 25, 2025, sixteen Ukrainian professionals were certified as national trainers during a “Train-the-Trainer” (TTT) course held at the UNICRI headquarters in Turin, Italy. The activity is part of the EU-funded project “From CBRN Crime Scene to Courtroom”, developed under the CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence initiative. The programme was launched in response to growing risks associated with the accidental or deliberate use of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents, and aims to strengthen Ukraine’s legal, investigative, and forensic capacities in an integrated manner. Delivered across five modules, the training links incident response to judicial processes, promoting coordinated action between law enforcement, judiciary, and institutional actors. With the completion of the TTT module, Ukraine concludes a six-month cycle of advanced training and is now positioned to deliver the programme nationally. Between 2025 and 2027, around 300 investigators, prosecutors, forensic experts, and judges will participate in tailored training sessions, reinforcing a sustainable and replicable model for addressing CBRN crimes.
