The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services has provided more details on a measles outbreak affecting the central parts of the state. There are currently five measles cases in Kentucky, and four of them are linked to the outbreak in Woodford and Fayette counties. The fifth case has been detected in Todd County. Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Dr. Steven Stack said they are not surprised by the outbreak due to the spread of the disease in other states. He urged all parents to vaccinate their children to protect them from measles.
Kentucky’s first measles case of 2025 was reported in February. The current outbreak comes amid the ongoing spread of the disease across the United States, with over 1,200 cases reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) nationwide.
