Law enforcement sources have reported that a natural gas pipeline in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), which provided gas to Punjab, was attacked by a terrorist group identified as khawarij. The explosion, resulting in a fire and significant gas escape, occurred at the section of the pipeline situated near the seasonal Torwah Creek. Security forces were dispatched to the location and established a security perimeter. Emergency response units were also deployed to extinguish the blaze and evaluate the degree of destruction. Authorities have characterized the event as a substantial act of sabotage against vital national infrastructure, with the intention of undermining regional stability and interrupting crucial energy distribution. No one was reported to have been killed or injured in the explosion. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack. Lakki Marwat has historically experienced a high level of terrorist activity and related violence. In May, a coordinated operation involving police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) was conducted against insurgents in the district’s rural areas.
