What happened

According to official sources, a series of explosions and armed attacks in the vicinity of police stations in southeastern Colombia have resulted in a minimum of seven fatalities. According to the police, the victims included two police officers and five civilians, while 12 other civilians were injured. The attacks targeted the city of Cali and the nearby towns of Corinto, El Bordo, and Jamundi, with police stations and other municipal buildings being targeted with a range of weapons, including car and motorcycle bombs, rifle fire, and the use of a drone. Although responsibility for the attacks has not yet been claimed, the evidence suggests a coordinated criminal act. The police have attributed the attacks to rebel groups, particularly the FARC-EMC, a group that is believed to be led by former members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and which is known to be operating in the area.
