What happened

A coordinated security operation by the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with military units and local vigilante forces, successfully neutralized a clandestine bomb-manufacturing site in Isseke, Ihiala LGA. The facility, linked to a secessionist faction and active for over two years, was a key hub for the assembly of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) used in regional destabilization efforts. During the May 24 operation, assorted IEDs were recovered and safely demobilized. One buried device detonated during the raid, causing structural damage but no casualties. Authorities emphasized that the explosives served as a defensive barrier to hinder security access. The operation marks a significant step in reasserting control over previously contested areas and mitigating further insurgent threats.
