What happened

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) said it is investigating a suspected case of measles in Lee County. The person involved was not eligible to receive the measles vaccine. The Department is also working with local medical officers to identify other unvaccinated individuals in the county and offer them the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Despite the investigation, the risk of a measles outbreak in Alabama remains low thanks to many residents vaccinating against the disease.
Due to privacy concerns and law requirements, ADPH is not releasing patient information. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are currently available.
