What happened

In Kampala, near a Catholic shrine, an explosion resulted in the deaths of two individuals believed to be affiliated with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). According to Ugandan military authorities, a counter-terrorism unit intercepted and neutralized the pair during a religious ceremony. One of the deceased was a female suicide bomber reportedly carrying substantial explosives. Local law enforcement indicates that the explosion occurred while the two suspects were traveling on a motorcycle. No civilians sustained injuries. Although no entity has claimed responsibility, police sources suggest a connection between the deceased and the ADF, a rebel group associated with ISIS, which was responsible for multiple lethal attacks in Uganda in 2021. Following the incident, security forces have increased patrols within the capital.
