On June 4, US and EU officials visited the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). The visit was organised by the Armenian government and the management of the plant. It underlined EU and US support for nuclear safety in Armenia, with the recent commissioning of a $3.4 million full-scope simulator designed to enhance safe operations at ANPP supported by an EU donation. Since last year, the EU has allocated over €17 million to Armenia to enhance nuclear safety and radioactive waste management. The allocation is part of ongoing cooperation under the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). It aims to support the alignment of Armenia’s regulatory framework with EU nuclear safety standards, strengthening its long-term energy security.
