What happened

On 30 April 2025, Cymat Technologies, a Canadian advanced materials company specialising in stabilised aluminium foam (SAF), signed a 10-year partnership with Nuvia, a France-based subsidiary of the Vinci Group. The collaboration will focus on integrating Cymat’s SmartMetal panels into nuclear infrastructure projects in France, supporting facility life extension programmes and enhancing protection against emerging environmental threats. As global interest in low-carbon nuclear energy grows, the partnership intends to expand beyond France through joint marketing initiatives. Nuvia brings over 60 years of experience working in sensitive industrial environments, and its Nufoam system offers a lightweight, sustainable alternative to traditional materials. This collaboration leverages Cymat’s energy-absorbing SAF technology to improve blast protection and structural resilience in nuclear facilities. Cymat’s CEO, Michael Liik, emphasised the strategic importance of this alliance, highlighting the growing role of nuclear energy in the company’s long-term revenue outlook.
