What happened

An explosion resulting from an homemade explosive device (HME) caused the death of Zaur Gurtsyev, the Deputy Mayor of Stavropol. The incident took place on a street within the city of Stavropol, located in southern Russia. Official sources indicate that investigators pursuing the case are considering the possibility of a terrorist act. No other casualties were reported as a result of the explosion.
