A conflagration occurred at the largest oil refinery in Ecuador, resulting in the evacuation of the site in Esmeraldas. Local authorities have stated that the conflagration was extinguished after several hours. No injuries were sustained during the incident. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. The Esmeraldas Refinery, constructed in the late 1970s, can process approximately 110,000 barrels of crude oil on a daily basis.
