Honduras health authorities have recorded 6256 dengue cases so far this year, a significant decrease compared to the over 16,000 cases registered during the same period in 2024. Of these 6256 infections, most appear mild or relatively mild, and only 103 are classified as severe. Four deaths have also been reported. Amy Tovar, head of the Vector Program at the Ministry of Health, called on the public to enhance preventive measures, especially eliminating breeding sites for mosquitoes. She also stressed the importance of vaccinations, as Honduras is one of the few countries in the Americas to offer a dengue vaccine. At the end of March, the Ministry of Health launched a vaccination campaign aimed at children, covering initially the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.
