What happened

In Hines Hill, chemicals have spilled onto the Great Eastern Highway after a trailer detached from a truck and flipped, releasing its content on the road. The trailer was carrying liquid ammonium nitrate, which is commonly used as a fertiliser and in explosives for the mining industry. Firefighters and other emergency services have quickly responded to the situation, establishing a 3 Km exclusion zone from the upturned trailer and making the area safe. They are now working with local police to reopen the Great Eastern Highway to traffic as soon as possible. No injuries were reported.
