Cuddalore ETP tank leaks, flooding homes with contaminated water

Local media sources indicate that an explosion transpired within the effluent treatment plant (ETP) tank of a dyeing facility in the SIPCOT industrial area near Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. This incident resulted in the inundation of residential zones in Kudikadu village with chemically contaminated water. Numerous residents have reported symptoms, including vomiting, dizziness, and ocular irritation, and have subsequently been admitted to the government hospital in Cuddalore. Current reports suggest that none of the admitted individuals are in critical condition. Authorities from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, in conjunction with local administrative personnel, have initiated investigations into the source of the explosion with a view to ascertaining the environmental and health impacts.
