A significant fire occurred in a chemical storage facility in the La Red industrial park of Alcalá de GuadaÃra, approximately 16 kilometers from Seville, after an explosion. The company operating the warehouse reported the explosion to the Andalusia Emergency Services and, as a precautionary measure, evacuated its personnel pending the arrival of assistance. The company in question has been engaged in the distribution and sale of chemical products since 1985; however, the specific nature of the materials involved in the conflagration has not yet been revealed. According to statements made to the national press by Manuel Blanco, head of the Seville Province Fire Department, the fire is contained and poses no immediate threat of propagation. Nevertheless, due to the scale of the incident and the nature of the materials involved, complete extinguishment may require an extended period. The Junta de AndalucÃa has initiated alert level 1, advising residents to remain indoors to avoid potential inhalation of noxious fumes. To date, two minor injuries have been reported, comprising a company employee who was transported to a medical facility for treatment of burns and a firefighter who suffered smoke inhalation.
