The Raichur Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) helipad in Shaktinagar was the location for ‘Operation Abhyaas,’ a simulated civil defence exercise organised by the Raichur District Disaster Management Authority. In the context of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the civilian population was educated on the measures and precautions to be taken in the event of an air attack on the country. The volunteers underwent training to include the management of fire, the treatment of serious injury, and the response to any emergency. Simulated explosive devices were also set off using fireworks. The officials overseeing the exercise elucidated that its primary objective was to demonstrate to the civilian population the measures that could be implemented to ensure their safety in the event of an incursion by hostile forces into Indian territory.
