In recognition of World Hand Hygiene Day, the Lazio Region is scheduled to convene a meeting on the subject of ‘Comparison of methods, tools and results four years after the adoption of the Regional Intervention Plan’. This event should take place on Monday, May 5, 2025. A meeting has been convened at the headquarters of the Inmi ‘Spallanzani’ Irccs in Rome, in which representatives of health companies and bodies of the Regional Health Service will participate. The purpose of the meeting is to share the status of the implementation of the recommendations on hand hygiene and other measures for the prevention and control of infections, including those caused by microorganisms resistant to antibiotics and those related to healthcare (ICA). The subjects addressed during the meeting encompass the endeavour to combat antibiotic resistance and the function of hand hygiene in the management of hospital-acquired infections. Cristina Matranga, general director of ‘Spallanzani,’ emphasised the crucial role of promoting proper hand hygiene in preventing infections, safeguarding patients and healthcare providers, and fortifying healthcare services. The Lazio Region, ‘Spallanzani’ Institute and the Lazio health companies are currently engaged in an extraordinary training plan on hospital infections aimed at healthcare and non-healthcare personnel in hospital facilities, which involves a total of 16,506 operators.
