What happened

The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) held an awareness programme on lumpy skin disease (LSD) and foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Serian on Saturday, May 3. The event was attended by 58 persons, including representatives from livestock farms and government agencies. It aimed to enhance the participants’ awareness of disease symptoms, preventive measures, and livestock health management strategies. In the keynote address Dr Sim Song Lin, a veterinary officer from Serian, explained in detail aspects of disease detection, prevention, and control strategies to minimise outbreaks and protect livestock. A DVSS spokesperson said that the attendance of so many participants reflects strong support for initiatives increasing awareness and preparedness in dealing with animal diseases.
