As reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) district administration has imposed a 12-day lockdown on a locality in Jamrud tehsil. This measure has been implemented in response to 17 cases of Mpox recorded in the area over the past three years. Most patients were from the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia, where the disease is endemic. The most recent confirmed case is that of a 31-year-old male from the KP district, who tested positive following screening upon departing for Dubai from Bacha Khan International Airport. The KP health department has initiated prompt surveillance and contact tracing of the patient. The decision by the local authorities to impose a temporary lockdown is aimed at preventing further transmission of the virus within the community. Essential services, including grocery stores, pharmacies, and emergency services, will be maintained during the lockdown. It is recommended that residents comply with the established health guidelines and refrain from any non-essential travel.
