What happened

A false bomb alert was triggered in the historical district of Florence following the discovery of an unattended backpack beneath the loggia facing the Museo Novecento, located in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, near the entryway. Law enforcement and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units were dispatched to the location. An inspection by specialized technicians revealed no explosive substances within the backpack. As a precautionary measure, the affected zone was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic to facilitate the safe execution of the operation. Upon verification of the false alarm, unrestricted access to the area was reinstated.
