Gallipoli Forestry Carabinieri has recently confiscated a plot of land in the Alliste area of Lecce province, Italy. This land had been utilised as an unauthorised storage facility for several waste materials, including building demolition waste, wooden, iron, and plastic window frames, plasterboard panels, and hazardous waste such as paint residues, solvents, and silicone. The land is within a substantial area classified as a protected landscape zone, as delineated in the Regional Territorial Landscape Plan (category ‘Properties and areas of notable public interest’ of the so-called ‘Urban Code’). The area has been placed under preventive seizure, and the owner of the land, which covers an area of almost one hectare, has been reported to the relevant judicial authority.
