Pakistani security forces recently thwarted a cross-border infiltration attempt from Afghanistan, killing 54 militants. The militants were believed to be planning terror attacks within Pakistan. The clash occurred in North Waziristan, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, according to Pakistani military officials. No military personnel were reported killed or injured. Pakistan has experienced increased violence lately, largely attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an armed group associated with the Afghan Taliban, who returned to power in Kabul in August 2021.
