An ammonia leak in Derby has resulted in three people being taken to hospital by local fire and rescue services. The incident happened Sunday morning (March 16) in Princes Street, Normanton. Several fire crews responded to reports of a chemical leak at a commercial building in the street. They found an ammonia leak from a refrigeration unit and, after evacuating the building, proceeded to isolate it. There was no impact on any property in the surrounding area. Three of the evacuated persons were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Derbyshire police also attended to the scene for traffic control. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the organization tasked to deal with infectious diseases and environmental hazards in the country, has been notified about the incident.
