At the entrance of the Town Hall in Castel San Giorgio, located in the Salerno province, Italy, a high-powered homemade explosive device (HME) was detonated. The explosion caused property damage to the building’s main entrance, which subsequently ignited a fire, and to several nearby residences. Preliminary information suggests that the explosive was ‘launched by an individual wearing a hood’ who then fled the scene on a motorcycle. Firefighters responded to the incident along with officers from the local Carabinieri Company, who have initiated an investigation and are reviewing footage from area surveillance cameras. No injuries were reported.
