Two suicide bombers detonated explosive devices near the perimeter wall of a military base in Bannu, located in the northwest of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This resulted in the partial collapse of the wall, enabling a subsequent attack by five or six additional assailants. However, these attackers were subsequently repelled, leading to clashes that left at least 12 individuals dead and 30 wounded, according to security officials and local hospital sources. The attack occurred after sunset, during the time of day when people were breaking their Ramadan fast. A group that has ties with the Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
